This 7,000-square-foot detached house receives a gentle yet considered makeover shaped by the owner’s eclectic and deeply personal taste. Her wide-ranging interests—reflected in a collection that includes traditional calligraphy, oriental sculptures, primitive carvings, delicate Victorian figurines, and a substantial LEGO assortment shared with her daughters—form the foundation of the design approach. The makeover gives the home a fresh new appearance while quietly balancing these contrasting influences through thoughtful choices in colour, materials, and spatial composition, and accommodating the family’s current needs and lifestyle. The result is a space that feels naturally layered and individual, where cultural references sit comfortably alongside modern elements, and where the family’s personality and way of living come through in an effortless, unforced way. It becomes a home defined by a sensitive reworking of what already exists—allowing character, memory, and personal expression to guide the design.
