Noordin Mews, a testament to Penang’s Late Straits Eclectic architectural heritage, has stood the test of time since the 1920s. Originally a bustling shophouse and mews, its walls have witnessed the ebb and flow of history. The transformation of Noordin Mews was a meticulous process, one thatrequired both creativity and profound respect for the building’s storied past. The challenge was to preserve the rugged charm of the original structure while introducing modern amenities to enhance guest comfort. Attention to detail extended to custom-designed elements like the bespoke luggage racks and clothes hooks, reminiscent of vintage cloak hangers. These thoughtful touches ensured that each room, while distinct, resonated with the same historical charm and modern elegance. The design process was guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the building’s natural beauty to take centre stage.
